BEIJING, December 17 (TMTPOST) — Huawei Thailand launched its 5G smart hospital project “Siriraj World Class 5G Smart Hospital” at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok on Thursday. The event was joined by representatives from Siriraj Hospital, The National Broadcasting Services of Thailand, Office of The National Broadcasting, Telecommunications Commission, the Chinese embassy and other enterprises.
Thailand will use Siriraj Hospital as a blueprint and pilot project for the country’s smart hospital development, Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said.

Siriraj Hospital is the oldest and largest hospital in Thailand. It is the primary teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.
The 5G project will drive the application of 5G technologies in healthcare in the country, helping to provide patients with more convenient services and reducing workload for medical personnel at hospitals, Thailand’s prime minister said.
Digital transformation of the healthcare industry is an important part of Thailand’s new economic development plan Thailand 4.0. China and Thailand’s 5G cooperation will help Thailand become the first country in Southeast Asia to achieve commercial use of the 5G network, Han Zhiqiang, the Chinese ambassador to Thailand said. Han believes that China and Thailand have a broad prospect in smart healthcare cooperation in the future.
“China and Thailand’s 5G cooperation has become a model in the region, helping Thailand become the first country in Southeast Asia to launch 5G commercial use. China will continue to support Huawei and other Chinese companies in advancing Smart Hospitals and bringing better lives for Thai and Chinese people,” Han said.
Huawei will be implementing its 5G, cloud and AI technologies at Siriraj Hospital, covering areas such as ambulance management, AI diagnostic assistance, and remote healthcare service. Huawei aims to help Siriraj Hospital achieve digital transition in all areas. This is also the first 5G smart hospital project for Huawei in an ASEAN country.
Huawei and Siriraj Hospital have reached cooperation on 5G medical kits, 5G unmanned vehicles and 5G smart hospital beds. Siriraj Hospital and Huawei will establish a Joint Innovation Lab to incubate over 30 innovative 5G applications that will be promoted nationwide from 2022. Successful experiences from Huawei and Siriraj Hospital’s cooperation will be promoted in Thailand.
