Due to the Omicron outbreak came ahead of Chinese New Year, nearly 100,000 workers who chose not to take the leave durin the seven-day public holiday, and stayed put at Foxconn Technology Group’s Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park, a production site located in Zhengzhou, the manufacturing hub and capital of central China’s Henan province, according to a recent post from the park’s official WeChat account. The post said that A worker whose attendance met the production need can earn an up to RMB3,000 (more than US$470.00) reward, in addition to the base salary and overtime pay.
The post was evident a good news for Apple, more accurately, for the next generation of iPhone SE, the tech giant’s most affordable 5G iPhone which was just said to be ready for release in the spring event.
Bloomberg reported in January that Apple could introduce new gadgets including the 5G-supported third generation of iPhone SE, or iPhone SE 3, in the event that could take place in March or April. Earlier this week, 91mobiles learned Apple could soon introduce new iPhone SE models in India, one of the key markets for the company to launch the budget iPhone, and three models have been imported for testing.
In order to meet the manufacturing needs, Foxconn’s iPhone factory in Zhengzhou last month has launched the second recruitment in two months, and unusually offered up to RMB10,000 bonus for each new hire in the off season. Later that month, the Global Times learned that these plants also had policies for encouraging workers to stay on the job during the holiday. "Staffers who can work during the Chinese New Year will also be given a good bonus as part of the encouragement plan," the Chinese newspaper under state media the People’s Daily cited a manager who didn’t disclose the exact amount of the bonus.
