BEIJING, March 16 (TMTPOST) — Chinese telecom and consumer electronics giant Huawei launched its first tablet product with an e-ink display titled MatePad Paper on Wednesday at the 2022 Huawei Whole House Smart and Whole Scene New Product Spring Conference.
MatePad Paper is equipped with a 10.3-inch e-ink display and supports Huawei’s second-generation M-Pencil that can be attached to the tablet through a magnet. The stylus has an extremely low latency of 36 ms and offers 4096 Levels of Pressure Sensitivity.
The display has a resolution of 1872 x 1404 pixels with 227 PPI. The tablet is powered by Huawei’s in-house chip Huawei Kirin 820E and 4GB of ram. It has an internal storage of 64GB. The Kirin 820E is a 5G 6-core processor that is coupled to the Mali-G57 6-core GPU for graphics processing.
The tablet runs on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 2 operating system and can connect with other Huawei devices, allowing users to transfer content from other Huawei devices, including Huawei smartphones and MateBooks. Users can freely download mobile applications on MatePad Paper. It is worth noting that Huawei will release the device’s SDK, which is expected to help build the application system for the tablet.
MatePad Paper runs on a 3625 mAh battery pack. Statistics from Huawei’s own lab show that the device can last for six days if used for reading for two hours and note-taking for 30 minutes every day. The device supports 22.5W fast charging. It can be charged to full battery in 90 minutes.
MatePad Paper supplies users with content from Huawei’s own reading app as well as literature platforms such as CITIC Press Group. The device offers books of over 40 categories.
MatePad Paper comes in three colors——white, blue and black. It starts from 2,999 yuan with standard specs of 4GB+64GB and WLAN function. The 6GB+128GB WLAN version is priced at 3,699 yuan.
