Beijing, June 27 (TMTPOST) – Market research firm IDC estimates that the scale of the AI virtual avatar market in China would reach 10.24 billion yuan in 2026, according to the latest industry report from the company.
IDC’s report shows that virtual avatar has become the hottest sector in the AI industry in 2022 as it exhibits utility in many scenarios.
AI virtual avatar technology has been applied in areas such as customer service, entertainment, user interaction and livestreaming. It is worth noting that not all virtual avatars are powered by AI technology.
IDC defines digital avatar technology as using AI to generate virtual avatars that have appearances similar to humans, the ability to interact and express themselves.
The market research firm believes that the AI virtual avatar trend might transform the industry by reducing the necessity for motion capture and rendering process etc. that are required for making animated people.
Currently, the AI virtual avatar industry is still at its early phase. The AI virtual avatar market is also far from mature. Most players in this field are competing with each other in the market on different products, relying on their technological advantages to explore their existing customers.
Companies that are in the AI virtual avatar business can be categorized into three tiers based on their overall product capacity, AI technology, business ecosystem and commercialization etc. Companies that are in the first tier include Baidu Cloud, SenseTime and Xiaoice, etc. Each of these companies has its own advantages that set them apart from the crowd.
